
Esnault tops field on Day 1; Men’s Golf sits in third place at Malone-Glenmoor Invite
CANTON, Ohio – Ilia Antoniadis led the field with a 69 in his first collegiate round before Paul Esnault charged to the front with a second-round 67, lifting the Catawba Indians men's golf team to third place after Day 1 of the Malone-Glenmoor Fall Invitational on Monday.
Esnault fired four birdies and an eagle with just one bogey in his five-under round, tying the program's best mark against par in 18 holes. He holds a four-shot lead against fellow under-par shooters Ty Doty of Lewis and Ryan O'Rourke of Hillsdale.
Antoniadis collected six birdies in the first 18 before stumbling in the second round, but the German remained on the leaderboard tied for fourth at the day's completion. Allan Lockwood is T-17th with an 18-over mark through two rounds as Ryan Masterton (+15) and Luke Nelson (+18) are T-40th and 48th, respectively. Connor Carter, competing as an individual, stacks up T-53rd at 21-over.
Hillsdale tops the team standings with a combined 15-under par to lead second-place Lewis by a shot. The Catawba Indians possess a four-stroke advantage over Ohio Dominican as Pitt-Johnstown's 23-over rounds out the top five.
Catawba finishes its trip with third round action at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow.
