
Men's Golf competes in Day Two of SAC Championships
Orangeburg, S.C. – The Catawba College Men's Golf Team was in action at the Orangeburg Golf Club on Monday as they competed in the second round of the 2024 South Atlantic Conference Men's Golf Championship, carding a +27, 307 on the day for an overall score of +50, 610 as they head into the final round T-10th
HOW IT HAPPENED

Paul Esnault finished the day T-24th with an overall score of +9, 149 as he tallied a solid +4, 74 in second round play. Esnault posted a pair of +2, 36 halves on Monday as he notched a birdie and five pars on both the front-nine and back-nine, with both featuring strong patches of play. On the front-nine, Esnault came out of the gates with pars on five of six opening holes, while on the back-nine he notched all five pars and his second birdie of the round over a seven-hole run

Justin Nagy ended the second round T-40th at +14, 154 overall thanks to his second +7, 77 ledger of tournament. Nagy was solid over the front-nine, sinking five straight pars beginning on the third hole and adding a birdie for a +2, 36 start. He'd continue that form to start the back-nine, adding three more pars and another birdie in the first six holes, but endured a tricky finish over the final three for a +5, 41 frame

Connor Carter closed play on Monday T-43rd at +15, 155 after a +8, 78 outing in the second round. Carter posted some solid stretches on the day, recording 12 pars with six in both the front-nine and back-nine, but also ran into trouble via double-bogeys on each frame as well for a pair of +4, 40s

Luke Nelson will be heading into the final round on Tuesday T-52nd with an overall score of +17, 157 following a difficult +13, 83 in the second round. Nelson sunk nine pars over the second 18 holes, but was unable to build on a solid +4, 74 opener on Sunday

Ryan Masterton concluded Monday's action alongside Nelson at T-52nd, carding a +8, 78 in the second round via a pair of +4, 40 stretches. Masterton would tally three pars and a birdie over the front-nine before adding four more pars and another birdie during the back-nine, though he'd run into several difficult stretches
