
#3 LMU snaps Men’s Basketball’s win streak
Harrogate, Tenn. —- The Catawba College men's basketball team's winning streak was snapped on Saturday afternoon, falling at #3 Lincoln Memorial, 77-64 in South Atlantic Conference play. The Railsplitters improve to 20-2 overall and 10-1 in the SAC, while the Indians drop to 14-5 overall and 9-2 in league play.
DeAngelo Epps led the way for Catawba, scoring 17 points and going 8-for-10 from the free throw line. Javeon Jones also was in double figures with 10 points before fouling out of the contest. Quay Kennedy recorded a game-high 26 points for LMU.
Lincoln Memorial made 47 percent of its shots, while holding the Indians to 32 percent shooting. The Railsplitters also did damage from the free throw line, knocking down 24 of their 28 attempts from the charity stripe, while holding Catawba to just four assists on the afternoon.
The Indians fell down early 8-2, but a personal 6-0 run from Jones later in the half tied the game at 19 with just over eight minutes to go in the half. The Railsplitters responded with a 19-5 run over the next five minutes to open up a double-digit lead. A Kris Robinson three-pointer at the end of the half cut the deficit to 43-33.
A 15-6 LMU run in the second half opened an 18-point advantage for the Railsplitters. Catawba scored the final five points to cut the final margin to 77-64.
The team returns to action at Goodman Gym on Saturday, hosting SAC foe Carson-Newman at 4 p.m.
