Driver tabbed WePlayed Sports SAC Baseball Player of the Week
Rock Hill, S.C. —- Catawba College senior outfielder Dylan Driver was named WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference Baseball Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Driver led the 11th-ranked Catawba Indians to a 60-run week across four games, batting .500 (8-for-16) with four homers, ten RBI and eight runs scored.
The Faith, N.C. native started off the week with three RBI in Catawba's 26-8 win at Belmont Abbey, helping the team scratch across 21 runs in the final three innings in the victory over the regionally ranked Crusaders.
Then, in a weekend series win at Mars Hill, Driver recorded four homers, including a 5-for-5, two-homer game on Friday in the series-opening win. Driver hit a homer in each of the three games, leading the Catawba Indians to their 12th straight SAC series win.
Driver increased his batting average by nearly 50 points in the week of action alone, while now standing at a team-high five homers and 16 RBI.
Driver and the Catawba Indians wrap up their nine-game road trip at Georgia College on Tuesday in a Southeast Super Regional rematch before returning to Newman Park on Friday for the opener of a three-game set with Coker.
