
Beach Volleyball forces contested split at Wingate
Indian Trail, N.C. —- The Catawba College beach volleyball team played two very tightly contested matches on the road at first-year program Wingate on Wednesday, forcing the split in a pair of 3-2 matches in Indian Trail.
HOW IT HAPPENED
MATCH ONE | Wingate 3, Catawba 2
- Taylor Vecchione and Ragan Ball cruised to a 21-9, 21-14 win at #4s
- Christina Knotts and Morgan Childress picked up a 21-13, 21-17 win in #2s
- Kennedy Kimbro and Katie Willingham took the opening set of the #3s match 21-18, but fell in the ensuing two sets as the Bulldogs rallied for the 3-2 victory in the opener
MATCH TWO | Catawba 3, Wingate 2
- Vecchione and Ball once again swept the #4s match with relative ease, defeating their counterparts 21-7, 21-16
- Knotts and Childress also went 2-0 with a 21-18, 21-7 victory
- Kimbro and Willingham bounced back for a dramatic 21-18, 25-23 victory to help clinch the split, moving Catawba to 4-2 in conference action this season
