
Beach Volleyball sweeps Richard Bland to open 2025 season
Salisbury, N.C. —- The Catawba College beach volleyball team opened its 2025 season on a beautiful day at the Catawba Beach Volleyball Courts, sweeping Richard Bland in a doubleheader on Wednesday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Match One | Catawba 4, Richard Bland 1
- Kennedy Kimbro and Katie Willingham cruised their way to win in #4s, riding a dominant 21-3 win in the first set to a 21-3, 21-11 sweep
- The duo of Christina Knotts and Morgan Childress debuted in the #2 position, defeating their opponent in back-to-back 21-9 outcomes
- Hayes Smith and Riannel Arevalo were the #1s pair in the season opener, sweeping their way to a 21-15, 21-11 victory
- Ragan Ball and Taylor Vecchione were the fourth duo in the opening match to start the season 1-0, defeating their #3s counterpart 21-15, 21-12
Match Two | Catawba 4, Richard Bland 1
- Smith and Arevalo cruised to a second consecutive win on the day, defeating RBC's #1 duo 21-8, 21-11
- Kimbro and Willingham earned another definitive win, 21-11, 21-13 in #4s play
- Knotts and Childress moved to 2-0 on the young season with a 21-11 before pulling out a 24-22 thriller in the clinching set
- Sidney Kettelkamp and Brooke Vaughan came back from an early defeat to split the day with a 21-11, 21-17 win in #5s play
