
Beach Volleyball competes in Hawaii Day action vs RBC, C-N
Salisbury, N.C. —- The Catawba College Beach Volleyball team was in action on Wednesday against the Richard Bland College Statesman Eagles and the Carson-Newman Eagles at the Catawba Beach Courts, falling to Richard Bland 3-2 and then to Carson-Newman by a score of 5-0

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Christina Knotts and Morgan Childresstook the win on Court No. 1, downing Alexis Scipone and Sarah Heath in two sets, 21-13 and 21-19, to hand Catawba the opening point
- Lauren Shepherd and Claire Vinskuswere defeated on Court No. 2 by Aubrey Hyndshaw and Leilani Goggin in a pair of 21-3 sets
- JJ Quarrels and Kennedy Kimbrobattled with Peyton Ostenson and Jordan Schlageter in a three-set showdown on Court No. 3. Ostenson and Schlageter took the first set 21-15, only for Kimbro and Quarrels to surge back and force a third set with a 21-9 win. The third set would go down to the wire, with the duo from Richard Bland able to take a close 15-13 win for a 2-1 lead
- Katie Willingham and Ragan Ballevened the score at 2-2 with a two-set victory on Court No. 4, downing Morgan Green and Kiley Pickett 21-17 and 21-15
- Jada Whittal and Brooklyn Calkinswent against Phoebe Heath and Addison White for the win on Court No. 5, with the first match a back-and-forth affair that ended with Heath and Addison taking the win, 21-19. They would also go on to take the second set 21-11, earning Richard Bland a 3-2 victory

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Knotts and Childress would be defeated on Court No. 1 by Sierra Still and Truth Hafey, 21 17 and 21-11
- Quarrels and Kimbro took on Paige Halcrow and Ava Fountain from the No. 2 position, though Halcrow and Fountain wound win 21-10 and 21-11 to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead
- Vinskus and Shepherd went up against Bennett McCombs and Jenny Ille on Court No. 3, with the Carson-Newman duo taking the win via a pair of 21-9 sets
- Willingham and Ball squared off for three sets against Trinity Hafey and Camryn Ehlers on Court No. 4. After Hafey and Ehlers took the opening set 21-14, Willingham and Ball rallied with a 21-19 win to force a third set. Hafey and Ehlers would emerge victorious, taking a 15-8 victory
- Whittal and Halford matched up against Morgan Foy and Kat Nelson on Court No. 4, with Foy and Nelson completing the 5-0 win for Carson-Newman
