
Beach Volleyball splits with Spartanburg Methodist
Salisbury, N.C. —- The Catawba College beach volleyball team split a Friday doubleheader with Spartanburg Methodist College at home. The Catawba Indians move to 5-1 overall on the season.
Catawba took the opening match, making it five wins in a row to start the 2023 campaign. Raytchelle Miranda and Christina Knotts took the #1 match 22-20, 21-18. Maggie Marable and Devyn Berg won 21-7, 19-21, 15-13 and Molly Mather and Kennedy Kimbro clinched the win with a 21-17, 21-16 sweep over SMC's #5 team.
The Pioneers took the second match, however, by a final of 3-2. Mirana and Knotts took their second win of the day at 21-13, 21-9, while Mather and Kimbro followed suit with a 21-16, 21-15 victory.
Catawba is back in action on Sunday, heading to Wilmington, N.C. for matchups with Liberty at 10:30 a.m. and UNC Wilmington at 12:30 p.m.
