Trae Harrell joined Catawba Athletics on January 3 as the Assistant Athletic Director for Creative Services and Athletic Communications.

Harrell joined Catawba College after serving as the Director of Video and Creative Content at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, S.D., for over a year.

Prior to his time with Augustana Athletics, Harrell spent two years as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at Wingate University. A 2017 Wingate graduate, Harrell led the video production team and was responsible for ESPN3 video streams for the Bulldogs. He was the lead producer of all creative content for Wingate Athletics and he covered the Wingate baseball team during its run to the 2021 NCAA Division II National Championship.

As an undergrad at Wingate, Harrell worked for the Wingate University Sports Network, where he was the head student director and producer for all ESPN3 live streaming events. During his undergraduate days with the Bulldogs, Wingate became the first DII school in the country to sign a campus-wide ESPN3 streaming agreement.

Harrell previously served as the technical director at the Sportsplex at Matthews in Matthews, N.C., for almost two years, where he managed the video board, game streaming and graphic creation for tenants of the complex. Tenants included the Charlotte Independence of the United Soccer League, the third-highest level of professional soccer in the country.
