Bio

Britten Olinger is entering his first season as an assistant coach with Catawba Track & Field after joining this past fall.

Olinger comes to Catawba after spending the last eight years at Montreat College. A jumps coach specialist, Olinger was named the head coach for Montreat in 2016 and later transitioned to an assistant coach after a serious car accident in 2016.

During his time with the Cavaliers, Olinger helped shape the Montreat cross country and track & field programs into the most successful athletic teams on campus. On the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) level in track & field alone, Olinger helped coach athletes to more than 335 all-conference performances, 75 individual conference titles, and four team championships.  He coached 16 All-American jumpers, including a National Champion in the long jump. With Olinger's aid, the Cavs claimed 10 AAC Staff of the Year awards.

Before Montreat, Britten was the Director of Programs at Eastern Mennonite University (EMU). At EMU the program grew from less than 10 athletes to over 55 under his guidance. His robust coaching career has included national qualifiers, regional athletes of the year, and being a part of eight staff of the year winners.

Along with his coaching awards and athlete success, Olinger holds USA Track and Field Level 1 certification and USA Track and Field Level 2 certification in Jumps. He is also USTFCCCA certified in Strength and Conditioning, Speed and Power, and as a Jumps Specialist.

He has coached athletes to national recognition on two levels of intercollegiate athletics. Two USTFCCCA NAIA Regional Field Athletes of the Year and one USTFCCCA NCAA RegionalTrack/Field Athlete of the Year.
