Salisbury, N.C. —- Catawba College Football has hired Adam Gajo as an Assistant Football Coach, tasked with leading the team’s wide receivers, head coach Tyler Haines announced Friday afternoon.
Gajo joins Haines’ staff after serving four seasons as the wide receivers coach & passing game coordinator at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
“We are excited to have Adam and his family join us here at Catawba!”, Haines said. “Coach Gajo will do an excellent job recruiting, developing and leading the wide receivers of our program!”
Under Gajos’ leadership, Drake ranked as a top-25 passing offense in FCS this past season, as the Bulldogs threw for over 240 yards per game. Drake’s top receiving trio of Taj Hughes, Trey Radocha and Mitchell January each totaled over 500 receiving yards on the season.
Gajos assisted the Bulldogs to their second straight Pioneer Football League title this past season with a 7-1 record in league play, punching their ticket to the FCS Playoffs for the second year in a row.
“My family and I are excited to join the Catawba community,” Gajo said. “I’m looking forward to working with this awesome staff and helping our student-athletes live out their dreams.”
Prior to Drake, Gajos served as an assistant coach across multiple high school programs in the state of California, most recently as the running backs coach at Rancho Bernardo High School in San Diego.
The newest assistant to Catawba Football will be tasked with developing a group led by fifth-year senior Bo Pryor, who missed the final 10 games of the 2024 season. The receiving corps returns two receivers who recorded 100-plus yards in 2024 in sophomores Amari McArthur and Mike Geter.
The Catawba Indians open their season at Shuford Stadium on Aug. 30, hosting Ferrum at 6 p.m.
