#6 Women’s Tennis rolls to SAC Semis with win over LMU

Sumter, S.C. —- The 6th-ranked Catawba College women's tennis team rolled to a 4-0 win in their South Atlantic Conference quarterfinal matchup with Lincoln Memorial to start their run at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, S.C. on Wednesday.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

DOUBLES 

- Sofia Antolini and doubles partner Rin Igarashi cruised to a 6-0 win in the #2 doubles match

- Tina Gomes and Nika Dundovic helped clinch the match with a 6-0 victory against the #3 doubles team from LMU

- Ami Miya and Lili Drukerova led 4-2 in the top-ranked match when the doubles point was reached

 

SINGLES

- Anna Wise sped through her match, winning the #2 singles matchup 6-0, 6-1

- SAC Player of the Year Antolini earned another dominant victory with a 6-1, 6-1 win at #1s

- Vaishnavi Venkatesh aided in clinching the match with a 6-1, 6-2 win at the #6 position

- Miya neared a singles win, but settled for a 6-2, 5-1 unfinished match at #3s

- Drukerova won the opening set 6-2 at #4s and Igarashi won the opening frame 6-1

- Catawba advances to the SAC semifinal round for the third consecutive season, facing 5th-seed and 43rd-ranked Coker at 9 a.m. on Thursday
