HICKORY, N.C. – Grace Virginia Deal struck first but the Catawba College women's lacrosse team failed to sustain its lead, falling to Lenoir-Rhyne 19-3 at Moretz Stadium on Wednesday night to complete the 2025 season.
TEAM STATS
- Catawba (6-10, 3-8 SAC) was topped in shots 33-10 as Lenoir-Rhyne (10-7, 8-3 SAC) boasted a significantly larger on-target total at 23-4
- LR registered three fewer turnovers and also dropped the ground balls (16-11) and (16-7) draw controls categories
- Both teams were excellent in transition as each side went 17-for-18
- In net, Madison Talmage went the distance and stacked up seven saves; Sally Friesen got the start for LR, going 37:51 to secure the victory
INDIVIDUAL STATS
- Ella McCusker put forth Catawba's only multiple-point effort, scoring on her lone shot and assisting with another
- Deal and Emily Better accounted for the Catawba Indians' other two goals as Joey Baillie picked up an assist
- Skylar Mullin led the team in draw controls with three grabs
- Audrey Adelsberger paced the squad with four ground balls with the next-highest mark being Mary Sorvillo's two
- Adelsberger, Madison Shaffer and Allison Filosa recorded one causes turnover apiece
