Minichowski enters rarefied air following Day Five of NCAA Men’s Swimming Championships

Indianapolis, Ind. —- The Catawba College men's swimming team completed action at the NCAA Division II Swimming Championships in Indianapolis on Saturday, as Maks Minichowski and Nazar Herashchenko added more First Team All-American performances for a stellar week for the Catawba Indians.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

MORNING SESSION

100 Yard Freestyle Preliminaries

- Minichowski made it into the championship final for the fourth time this week, one of just three swimmers in the country to reach four championship A finals on the week

- Minichowski is the only man to reach the A final in the 50 free, 100 free and 200 free

 

EVENING SESSION

1650 Yard Freestyle

- Herashchenko raced up the leaderboard in the 1650 Freestyle with a sixth-place finish in the 1650 Freestyle, adding another First Team All-American swim to his week

 

100 Yard Freestyle

- Minichowski rose up one spot from his preliminary finish with a fifth-place mark in the final with a time of 43.09

- On the week, Minichowski scored the fifth most points on the men's side as an individual

 

STANDINGS UPDATE

- Catawba accumulated 93 points as a team for the overall team national championship race, finishing a program-record 16th finish as a team
